Deb’s Story: “I Thought I Didn’t Have Long Left... Now I Feel Alive Again”

For Deb, the moment she decided to change wasn’t about fitting into smaller clothes or chasing a number on the scales — it was about survival.
“I was fearful that I wouldn’t be around for much longer,” she shares. “My quality of life was poor, my health was poor, my outlook was poor. I was a very sad and miserable woman.”
But deep down, Deb had one powerful reason driving her — she wanted to be well enough to travel to Sydney to visit her 95-year-old dad, who is living with Alzheimer’s. “I’m still unsure if I’ll ever be able to make that trip due to my back and hip issues,” she says. “But I’m doing everything I can to try.”
She didn’t wait for the ‘perfect time’ — she simply added a Lady Shake Variety Box to her Coles online shop and started the day it arrived. No overthinking. Just action.
From there, everything changed.
At first, she followed a basic shake routine, but with every week she grew more confident and curious — joining The Lady Shake Facebook Group, reading tips, watching others succeed. She found her rhythm and started building shakes like a pro. Now, her daily blend is a nutrient-packed power smoothie with spinach, kale, banana, blueberries, chia, psyllium, LSA, Choc Super Greens, The Lady Shake Go! Espresso and The Lady Shake Restore Vanilla. Whew! Talk about a shake routine that means business.
“I blend it all up in the morning, and divide it into two meals – breakfast and dinner,” she explains. Simple. Effective. And no faffing around with extra cooking, thanks to her partner Pete, who now takes care of the kitchen with her goals in mind.
Deb also swears by The Lady Shake Boost Pine Passionfruit, sipping it all day to kick her metabolism into gear. “It’s really helped my 65-year-old sluggish metabolism get moving again.”
Her progress? Inspiring. Deb sets 5kg mini-goals — “They feel achievable and keep me motivated” — but hitting the 10kg and 20kg milestones was a game changer. “That’s when I really felt like I was achieving what I set out to do. My health is improving, the weight loss is easier on my joints, and I feel alive again.”
And then there are those hilarious, heartwarming non-scale wins…
“One day I looked in the mirror and thought, Ta-da! I’ve got collarbones again! Then I felt my ribcage! That was a BIG win!”
She’s even made a birthday cheesecake from The Lady Shake Recipe Book (with a test run beforehand, of course)!
So what’s her Lady Shake hack?
“Have faith in the process. It works. Hang in there and don’t give up. I want a good quality life, and it’s up to me to make that happen.”
Deb is proof that it’s never too late to start again. Her heart, humour, and hope shine through every part of her story. And while her journey to visit her dad is still in the works, she’s walking stronger every day, supported by Pete and a sisterhood of women online who’ve got her back.
