Ella lost 24kg

I am 63 years old and live in Marks Point NSW. I have lost 24 kilos to date on TLS.
I joined the TLS ladies support group on Facebook in 2019 when I first started my Journey. I had been on a lot of diets in the past, for example, weight watchers, The Aitkins diet, my own diet of reducing calories, sugar and carbs, Joining the gym, walking and doing Zumba. All worked for a short period of time, but I never followed through and lacked discipline. As a chef, nurse and currently a teacher and also being a Pacific Island girl, my passion has always been creating fusion recipes and cooking up a storm. When my late husband became sick with cancer, I looked after his needs and the needs of our blended family before my own. So food was an emotional release.
When I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 57, I knew that I needed to take control of my health and weight. I also suffered from vertigo.
My biggest roadblock was feeling depressed and worthless. I was a victim of an online dating scam that lost me a lot of money. This person sent me and my family extravagant gifts when I was attending my mums funeral in NZ. He went to great lengths to convince me of his affections. With the support of my adult children and close friends, I was able to rebuild my life and allow myself to trust, love and be loved again. My kids had said
" Mum you're too trusting with a big heart"!!!
I found out about The Lady Shakes on Facebook, Instagram and the ads and thought I would give it a try!
My routine is: Brekky is a shake after a brisk morning walk at 7.15, usually 10,000 steps on my step counter. I try and do some hills and steps. Also, my partner and I walk at the beach together on weekends and do various tracks at Nelson Bay.
Morning tea is around 11am which consists of either a hand full of almonds or if I'm hungry, I'll have a of a couple of rye crusts with avo and tuna or smoked salmon.
Lunch at 1.30 pm is a shake.
Beverages during the day is a soy latte, green tea and plenty of water.
Afternoon tea if hungry would be a mango or other fruit.
Dinner is a balanced meal of protein with Veg or salad...
Have never counted calories but have watched what I eat.
I enjoy a glass of red or white wine on the weekends occasionally.
I put greek yoghurt in my shakes, ice and some frozen fruit with a T of chia seeds if I need them.
Since the weight loss, I am far more confident, happy with my appearance, have found a loving partner who supports my goals. I get compliments from friends and family that have not seen me in a while. I have way more energy and can put so much more into my day. No Vertigo bouts. I've been told that I look younger than my age. Going shopping and dropping a few dress sizes also boosts my self-esteem.
I would say. If you are unhappy with your health, life and appearance. Make a change and try TLS. Of course we all have moments when we fall off the wagon. The important thing is that we are a community and we're here to support each other with our journeys. Everyone has a similar story. Have a break if you have to, but never give up.
