Leeann lost 16kgs in 10 weeks

Share

Hi, I'm Leeann, I'm 44 years old and I'm from Victoria.
So far using the lady shake I have lost 16kgs in 10 weeks.
I've always been on the chubby side, with European and Chinese background what hope did I have, we like to eat. I feel in the last 10 years my weight has spiralled out. After having my daughter and going back to work straight away, I never lost that baby fat. As the weight started to pile on so did the health problems. Wasn't long after having my daughter I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and bordering diabetes. This is not what I wanted. Not for me or my family, no matter what I did I couldn't lose weight. Often forgetting about me and busy looking after everyone and everything else, I did neglect myself.
There was a significant moment in my life when I knew I had to do something about myself and take the first steps. My Dad suddenly passed away in August 2020, from a massive heart attack. This had such an impact upon me. It was then I knew if I didn't do something about myself I could just go like this too, I was so scared and saddened. I had way too much to lose. My husband and daughter need me.
I want to become a better healthier parent for our daughter, so we can have quality time with her and teach her to make healthy choices for herself and her family when that time comes.
I've tried many fad diets over the years for that quick fix. Only to find it all comes straight back on and quickly. It was my hubby who encouraged me to take the steps with him on this journey. He was starting The Man Shake diet and I got myself The Lady Shake, so we took our first steps together. My boss had just gifted me a Fitbit, we had a 60 day 10,000 step challenge. I knew I had to get moving, for myself and for my family. I had all the tools now I just had to use them. And so it began.
I joined the Lady Shake Facebook page and group 'The Lady Club', the support and encouragement there is amazing. I remember reading the posts of some of the ladies and their achievements, saying to myself 'I want that. I want to do what they've done.' My lifestyle has changed in a positive way. I'm eating fresh healthy food and more active than I have been in a long time. I feel so much younger and I feel so good. For a long time now I haven't liked what I see in the mirror, that's all changing. Now when I try on a nice dress or jeans I'm starting to like what I see.
The biggest difference now I've lost weight is noticing all the little things I couldn't do before. The confidence it's given me. There are so many things I could say, but it's definitely the little things, being able to cross your legs on the floor to play with the kids, bending over to put on your shoes, the feel of your kids' hugs when they put their arms around you. Keeping up with the kids. I feel so different already. I'm happy, I have so much confidence, my skin is glowing. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long time. I cant wait to see how far I can go with this lifestyle change. I never want to go back to where I was. I don't want to be skinny, I want to be fit and healthy.
The biggest roadblock for me was the mindset. Having a positive attitude and putting it in my head that I can do this. Hurdles and all, I've got this. For too long I gave myself excuses and made myself believe I couldn't do things. Not any more. I've lost 16kg so far, my journey is just getting started. Honestly, what do you have to lose? For me it took a tragedy, don't let that happen to you. Change yourself, do it for your family,  do it for you, you deserve it. Remember its the little things, start off little and work your way up. It's OK to fall off the path, just make sure you get back on with the next meal. Set small goals. If I can do this, you can too. You've got this. Every day try to be the best version of you.
