Diet-Friendly Hot Drinks For Winter

Food - general

Share

In winter we crave warmth, and if you’re on a weight loss journey, sometimes the cold is all it takes to dig into a treat meal! Or over-indulge and there’s some science behind this.

As hard as it can be to resist temptation from high-calorie drinks like hot chocolates or chai lattes during the colder months, there are healthier alternatives that will satisfy your desire for warmth while supporting your goals.

Coffee

Don’t feel guilty about your morning cup – so long as you’re keeping it sugar-free. Caffeine has a range of health benefits including enhanced focus and concentration and it can even help with migraines!

Our recommendation is to have your coffee black, with low-fat or skimmed milk or a nut milk rather than full cream to lower the calorie count.

Ginger Tea

There are two reasons for this one on the list — it’ll warm you up and help fight congestion! It also does wonders for stomach pain. You can make fresh tea by grating a piece of ginger root and brewing it in boiling water for about 5-10 minutes or pick up a teabag at your local supermarket.

Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, supports heart health and is perfect if you’re trying to lose weight. Green tea contains catechins and caffeine, they work together to enhance thermogenesis, the process by which the body burns calories to produce heat – similar to our product BOOST

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea has been shown to aid digestion to relieve bloating and gas, it’s calorie-free and the menthol in it has a calming affect that can help relieve tension. You can make your own with a handful of dried mint leaves brewed in boiling water for 5-10 minutes or grab some teabags at the shops.

Chocolate Super Greens

Our very own Chocolate Super Greens can be served warm too! A lot of us are more susceptible to getting ill during winter, and while we’ve got some immunity-boosting food recommendations, our choccy greens comes out on top. You’ll be getting five servings of veggies in a hot chocolate.

You can also heat up The Lady Shake! And be sure to check out our healthy hot choc for a guilt-free winter treat.
