Sports You Can Join And Be Surrounded By Women

Do women really play less sport than men? Sadly, yes, and this hasn’t got so much to do with us not wanting to play, but we do notice a pattern of club sport – still to this day – being a male-dominated industry.

While a lot of us may be deterred from playing sport because of this, there’s no better way to celebrate womanhood like getting with the girls to play sport! If you’re looking to up your physical activity in a fun way without being surrounded by men, we’ve got some ideas.

Golf

Golf is a fun and social game that can help you stay fit while keeping in touch with friends. Grab your girlfriends and sign up for a group game! Alternatively, have a look on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram to see if there are any pre-existing groups taking new members if your friends don't want to get around it.

Golf is a great, low-impact activity that’s perfect for the ladies new to the world of sports.

We recommend you also ave a look at Golf Fore Women. They’re an Australian company for women who want to learn and enjoy golf in a friendly, fun and social environment. You can get coaching, play for fun or partake in their personalised events.

Touch Football

Touch footy is a great cardio workout in a fun, social environment. Touch Football Australia offers women-only clubs. Get a team together or check Facebook groups or the website Meetup – for all you know, your local neighbourhood may have a sports club of their own!

Netball

One great thing about netball is that we can safely say it’s a female-dominated sport! It’s a great social sport that will improve your aerobic fitness, stamina, strength and balance.

Netball Australia makes it easy, just select your state and register to an area that suits you! You can create your own team or make new friends by registering on your own.

Netball is a great choice unless you suffer from weak knees! It can take quite a toll on the knees, so choose your sport based on your personal physical abilities.

Pickleball

If you haven’t heard of pickleball, it’s a “racquet and ball” sport that can be played indoors or outdoors, and Australia is embracing it at a rapid rate! You can do it with one other person or in doubles. Think of it like compact tennis!

It’s super easy to get started too, you can find a location to play at on the association’s website, just enter your suburb and you’ll find plenty of clubs.

ParkRun

Now, we can’t promise there’ll be no men here, but ParkRun is ideal for ladies looking into starting running or simply looking to get their steps up! Despite the name, walking is permitted, and there's no time limit.

It's also completely free! All you need to do is register on their website to get started. It's a 5km track with over 400 locations in Australia, so you'll have no trouble finding a location that works for you and the ladies.

If walking is your thing, you could always try starting your own walking group!

Takeaways

Sport brings people together! Games and clubs can serve as social hubs, promoting interaction and camaraderie. Through team efforts and collective support, you and the girls will feel connected and part of something larger than yourselves.

The shared experiences of victories and defeats will only strengthen your connection with others.

To sum it up, sports bring a sense of belonging, and there's no better feeling than celebrating togetherness.

Don't let anyone deter you from playing sport! You won't regret it.
